Probiotic Golden Milk Ice Cream

Yup. You read that right. Turmeric Ice Cream. And it's as good as it sounds. It has this wonderful, tart kick to it, kind of like the ever popular (but not so healthy) tart flavor from Pinkberry. But it's turmeric and tastes sort of like eggnog in this amazingly delicious foodgasm sort of way.

BONUS it has probiotics to build up that healthy gut and immune system. If you are new to probiotics and their wonderful benefits I have a 2 part video series all about them here and here.

The best part is you don't even need an ice cream machine! BUT I will say if you have one, definitely use it cause it's more work without one.

For this recipe I used my Vitamix so I could make the recipe accessible for everyone, but I will be the first to admit that it's definitely the hardest route and if you can't afford an ice cream machine I highly recommend this Zoku Instant Ice Cream Maker (it's only $25!)

You will need the Golden Turmeric Lassi from Dahlicious. The reason I chose this brand is because they use grass fed, organic dairy, which is incredibly important these days with the usage of growth hormones, antibiotics and pesticide laced GMO feed in conventional dairy. It is also the lowest in sugar that I have found! Not to mention their flavors are out of this world- so unique and delicious! Dare I say....dahlicious.

GOLDEN MILK ICE CREAM

 Yields 2-3 servings

Note: If youre using a blender to make this you need to freeze the majority of the lassi ahead of time. I poured it into an ice cube tray

Ingredients:

8 Dahlicious Golden Turmeric Lassi Ice Cubes

½ Cup of Dahlicious Golden Turmeric Lassi

1/2 cup full fat coconut milk, from the can

1-2 Frozen bananas (optional, but this helps make it creamier)

1 tsp vanilla

1 Tbsp Maple Syrup or Coconut sugar

Directions:

  1. Place all ingredients in your blender
  2. Blend on a high speed for about 30 seconds- you want to stop as soon as it’s smooth. If you blend for too long you risk the mixture heating up.
  3. Serve immediately or put back in the freezer for 5-10 minutes to get extra cold.
  4. Note: if you are using an ice cream machine or the zoku ice cream maker, omit the bananas and ice cubes and just simply pour the mixture in (you will have to check measurements for your actual machine).
